History ♠ ♠ ♠

i. //I'm glad that you're fine and I'm fine. I agree: it's great to be fine.\\ Paxton Graham Fine was born to parents Rosemarie (a school teacher) and Louis (then a major in the US Air Force) on August 15, 1979 in Heritage Lake, Oregon. They were newlyweds and they certainly were not expecting a baby so early on in their marriage, but they happily and gratefully accepted tiny Pax into their lives.

ii. //The sun will marry the moon. It'll be fine.\\ Growing up, Paxton was continuously bullied because of his glasses and the fact that he was smaller than most of the other boys. Classmates would trip him or steal his glasses and guide him into walls. He developed quite a thick skin because of this. It wasn't until high school that the taunting stopped. It helped that he grew several inches and nerdiness became cool.

iii. //A fine romance with no quarrels.\\ The only person who really stood at his side during the years of taunting and made him feel okay and accepted was Jessie Jo, his best friend. The pair were inseparable throughout their shared childhood, playing and joking together every day at recess and after school. He would bring her flowers and doodle her pictures (passed under desks) and hold her hand while they walked together. Little Pax was ever the gentleman. As they grew, so did his feelings for her. But, unfortunately, at that awkward age, he never got brave enough to actually make his feelings known.

iv. //Well, this is a fine how-do-ye-do.\\ Unfortunately, the military often brings such happy friendships to an end. Such a thing happened when Pax and Jessie were fifteen: Major Fine was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and relocated to a base near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (P.I.T.). Pax was devastated to have to say goodbye and more than likely lose his best friend. What made it harder on him was the fact that the news seemed to make her really, really angry. They never even said goodbye.

v. //Though it sometimes touches me, for the likes of such as me, mine's a fine, fine life.\\ Life in Pittsburgh turned out to not be half bad, though an element of homesickness stayed with Paxton. He missed Jessie like crazy and was never able to fully move on, even though he was popular at his new school and quickly made friends. No one teased him and everyone seemed to genuinely like him. There was a funny side to him that he hadn't known about. Making people laugh made it easier for him to pretend to feel okay. He graduated high school with excellent grades, and went on to college at Penn State, following in his mother's footsteps and getting himself a degree in education.

vi. //There's a fine, fine line between together and not.\\ While in college, he met Clarice Beaumont, a fellow education major. They were far from friendly at first. She was a cheerleader and often seemed annoyed by his attempts at humor or conversation. She was the first girl to really spurn all of his advances toward friendship. Only after he played the lead in the school's musical, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying!, did Clarice start talking to him. They started dating, and during their senior year, they were engaged. They married right after graduation. But it didn't last. After three years of rocky marriage, they divorced amicably, realizing that their kind of opposites really could not attract for long before defusing.

vii. //She's in love with me and I feel fine.\\ Pax busied himself with getting his teaching certificate and starting out on the path to success. He was initially known as the most awkward new teacher at his school, but he eventually became well-loved. However, his homesickness for Heritage Lake had never gone away, and now that he was done with school and divorced, he felt it was time to discharge himself from Pittsburgh and go home. Right after his twenty-nineth birthday, he packed his bags and headed back to Oregon to hopefully live out the rest of his life the way he'd intended all along.

viii. //Everything you ever... And I am fine.\\ In the summer of 2010, Paxton finally tracked down Jessie Jo. It turned out that she had just moved back in town. Their camaraderie immediately fell back into place, and they confessed their past feelings for each other. They started dating and things felt very much like the old days. Pretty soon after, they got married. But growing up meant a few changes, and little by little they have started to grow apart. His enthusiasm for nerdy things leaves Jessie at a loss, and he sometimes secretly feels as though she loves to spend time with her horses more than him. Pax still loves Jessie to death, but he is starting to wonder if too much has changed between them. There are just some feelings and dreams that you can't get back. Like Big Mama said in The Fox and the Hound, "time has a way of changing things"...

Appearance & Personality ♠ ♠ ♠

Standing at six feet tall, skinny, with black shaggy hair and big blue eyes, Paxton could be called "cherubic". He's got the sort of face that makes a person instantly feel like trusting him. When moving, he is quite agile and quick on his feet. This leads him to be able to do things like dancing down a street while juggling without falling on his face. His sense of fashion is certainly interesting. He wears black-rimmed glasses for vision's sake, and he is also usually dressed in jeans and funny, colorful t-shirts. He looks like a fun, down-to-earth sort of guy. He's perhaps not incredibly eye-catching at first, but give him time.

Pax is a rather silly man. He is not really the type to worry about how he may appear, as long as people are laughing with him. Wildly outgoing, chipper and friendly, he is a great person to take to a party... or meet there. He can get even the shyest of people talking comfortably, without the use of liquid courage. Many people may find it hard to believe that such a guy is from this planet, let alone a tiny town like Heritage Lake, OR.

He is geekdom at its best, using computers and the internet in practically every way possible. He enjoys being connected to a great many people, because a small world, to him, is a safe world and a much more fun one. This, of course, does not keep him from activities "IRL". He is a social butterfly without ever making anyone feel left out. Somehow, he manages to keep everyone feeling like his number one priority. He's liable to burn out one day, but he sure is fun in the meantime.

Aside from this, there is a sweet element of innocence with him. That's not to say that he's a tea-totaling virgin or anything like that. He just has a way about him that typically leads others into wanting to help him out or back him up should things get ugly (which they rarely do). He is unassuming and so optimistic that it borders on naivete. With his baby-face, it's hard for anything seriously violent to come up with him, but when the situation arises, his face and his friends get him away with nary a black eye.
